100% Made in France high-end cushions
Trends Forum by Nelly Rodi
For the January 2019 edition of Salon Maison&Objet, the Nelly Rodi style and trends bureau follows visionary Vincent Grégoire in honoring Made in France style. "We love exceptions and differences in a world that is increasingly standardized," states the stylist. Small labels offer new luxury craftsmanship in response to big historic labels. Production is smaller, barriers between various disciplines are removed and small labels carry new values, including Made in France and an eco-friendly approach, like Maison Popineau.
Art déco cushions in a neo-patchwork style
Since its foundation in 2015, Maison Popineau stands for French decorative art, art that characterized by elegant, subtle sophistication. All of their creations take inspiration from simple, structured geometric patterns that can be worked as an assembly of original fabrics and harmonious combinations of materials.
Maison Popineau's geometric cushions have marked the revival of the patchwork style, adding a very trendy modern touch that suits luxury interior decoration.
Unique, vintage materials for an eco-friendly approach
All of the fabrics are second-hand, found in haute couture stocks, from rare merchants that have remained in Paris' flea market or at the Sentier, or directly from the Artistic Director's (Aurore) personal stock. She has collected exceptional fabrics for more than 20 years.
Depending on the Collections and cushion models, you will see very different combinations of materials: from trendy, noble velvets to warm wools, as well as linen, silk and moiré, even new or used denim to add a contemporary, modern touch to vintage cushions.
Creative craftsmanship for contemporary decorative cushions
The creative process involves assembling materials and colors to create original decorative cushions that will add a refined, modern artistic touch to trendy sofas and interiors.
Craftsmanship, from assembly to sewing, produces models with an haute couture finish to make truly exceptional pieces.
All models are created and made by hand in the label's workshop in the 10th arrondissement in Paris.
Designer cushions as unique pieces and small limited series
Square cushions in 40x40 or in 60x60, small rectangular cushions in 30x45 or XXL in 40x60, all models are created using available fabrics and geometric assemblies which determines the number of cushions that can be made for each model. When a model's fabric runs out, the model disappears and a new Collection comes out.
That is what makes Maison Popineau so successful: constant Collection renewal with continuity in the style which makes it so original.
Cushions in a rich, varied palette of colors
Anything goes for Maison Popineau: from black and white cushions that silence color and allow fabrics to express themselves through contrast, to bright colors that perk up rooms, as well as all elegant, harmonious palettes and combinations. Depending on the season and at whim, Collections take on colors that in combination with others, create atmospheres that mirror the rooms where they are placed.
